Two additional thoughts on it are that it does not hold things in place as much as a silicone hot mat would, pots can shift when trying to serve from it. This isn't a big issue, I just have to hold the pot sometimes. Also, if you are deciding between the oval or round trivet, go with the round one. The oval one is only slightly larger and I feel the round one looks better.
